One Historic Mosque is there called as Periya Mosque which is construted by King Nawab during the year 1692.

One side of athikkadai River Vennaru is flowing.

The other boundaries of Athikkadai are Thiruvarur and Thanjavur in East & West respectively.

In the North end Kodavasl is located and South is Mannargudi.

Majority of the people are Muslims.

We have four mosques namely Periya Mosque, Mela Mosque,Al-ameen Mosque, Palakudi mosque.
Our local administration named as NIRVAGA SABAI controlled by Jamath leaders.

Social functions like marriages and civil problems are governed by these administration, which have their own boundary limit.

Some of these mosque also have some special features like arab teaching for students in the evening at Al-ameen Mosque, Palakudi mosque and morning nearer to Periya Mosque.Apart from this a some Arabic Madarsa(college) also we have such as WAHID FATHIMA ,MASAW and AL-JAMYATHUL HUSSAINIA.

Athikkadai is also have good transport facilities such as Bus, Minibus, Auto and Taxi stands which is available round the clock.
Railway station is located at Koradacheri which is very nearer.

From here pilgrimage and Workship centres like Nagore, Vellangani,Kumbakonam, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur are easily accessible.
